EuroBall Updates

Another great weekend of American football in Europe as we in America continue to get nauseated by non-stop analysis of the upcoming NFL Draft and the ongoing NFL lock out.

At least I was able to enjoy Spring Games from various colleges wrapping up their Spring Practices on ESPN!

Let's see how some of our favorite EuroBall teams are doing, first we go to Sweden's American Football Federation's Division I Södra.

The Hässleholm Hurricanes had their second scrimmage, this time at home, against another team from Denmark, the Amager Demons. All reports were positive as the new look 'Canes continue to put together all of the pieces of their revitalized roster.

At the same time, Ryan Bolland's Kristianstad Predators took the trip to Malmö for a scrimmage against their Division I Södra rivals, the Limhamn Griffins. Just like the 'Canes scrimmage, it was a very positive experience for the young, up and coming Predators as they prepare for their first Senior team season in Division I.

The Swedish season opens up in two weeks with Hässleholm Hurricanes traveling to Kristianstad to take on the Predators on Saturday, April 23rd.

That should be an interesting match-up to say the least.

Meanwhile, in sunny Italia . . .

It was time for the fourth week of the IFL season. Our favorite team, the Catania Elephants (2-1), had a BYE this weekend as they prepare for next Saturday's home contest against the Reggio Emilia Hogs (1-2).

During their BYE week, the defending IFL Champion Parma Panthers played a Euro Bowl game near Barcelona against Spain's 2010 Champions, the L'Hospitalet Pioneers. It was a good day for the IFL as the Panther's outlasted the Pioneers 33-20.

Next up for the Panthers in Euro Bowl play is a game in Parma on April 23rd against the 2010 Swiss Champions, the Calanda Broncos.
